Thiers is a medieval city situated in the heart of the Livradois Forez regional natural park.
It is the capital of the cutlery where you can visit its museum and its manufacturing workshops where you will see the fabrication of the famous “LE THIERS” knife.
You can stroll on its pedestrian streets with half-timbered houses, on the town hall square to see its "Jacquemart"...
The city is surrounded by the Vallée des usines, the Creux de l'Enfer (on the banks of the Durolle river), and the Vallée des Rouet.
10 km from Lezoux
Lezoux is a Gallo-Roman town with no visible remains from the first centuries of our era, its history is being discovered little by little by archaeologists. A departmental museum of ceramics, where you will find hundreds of objects from archeological digs in Lezoux.
20 km from Billom
Billom is a medieval city labelled "Country of art and history" where you will go back in time by passing through the town gate dating from the 12th century!
Basalt cobblestones on the ground, yellow arkoses on the facades, timber-framed houses, Saint Cerneuf church which contains one of the oldest crypts in Auvergne…
Visiting Billom also means visiting its garlic fields, tasting pink garlic, the enigmatic black garlic and enjoying its Garlic Fair the second week-end of August.
30 km from Vichy
Vichy is an internationally renowned city called the "Queen of water towns " located in Allier.
It is a spa and resort town and a must-see place in Auvergne!
In 2021, the town became part of the transnational UNESCO World Heritage Site under the name "Great Spas of Europe".
You can also go to visit the Vichy Pastilles factory created in 1824.
40 km from Ambert
Ambert is a town with lots of fairs and markets, you can visit the old town, the image factory, and of course the Maison de la Fourme d'Ambert that produces the famous cheese, an ideal starting point if you plan to drive the Auvergne Cheese route.
Go to the Hautes Chaumes, an exceptional natural site with amazing viewpoints, where you will find the famous jasseries (Jasserie du Coq Noir), and then go to the Richard de Bas Mill where paper has been made since 1326.
Clermont-Ferrand at 40 km
